Jamming
Every day for for 13 years now the Chinese authorities have attempted to jam/block Voice of Tibet’s transmissions. This is done to deny its citizens access to uncensored news and information about what is going on in Tibet and China. To document what is going and and for you to hear how it sounds – the following are recordings from recent transmissions – recorded at the Tibetan border and in mainland China (mainly Sichuan and Xinghai provinces):

Comments: As documented in these recordings of VOT transmissions the Chinese authorities continues attemping to "jam" all VOT's short wave radio transmissions. The locations used by Chinese authorities on these days
were Beijing, Xian, Dongfeng (Hainan), Linhe and Kashi/Kashgar (most of the time using two sites simultanously. For more detailed info, pls. write back at: oystalme@online.no
You should also be aware that the Chinese jamming "sees no borders" and thus also attempts to block access to our short wave radio broadcasts reaching the Tibetan refugee communities in India and Nepal, as well as most other parts of Asia and Europe.
Voice of Tibet broadcast on internationally registered frequencies, supposed to be protected by the International Telecommunications Union, an institution under the United Nations. The ITU says it is unable to influence the Chinese to stop the "jamming".
Please write us for more information if you are planning to visit Tibet or China, at: voti@online.no – maybe you can bring a radio and listen yourself?
